Safe & secure shopping

This website takes every precaution to protect our users' information. Our shopping cart incorporates industry-standard secure server software (Secure Socket Layers) provided by Godaddy into sensitive sections of our store. All online transactions at bumpmylock.com are handled using this encryption technology. When you enter your credit card number into the order form, it is transmitted across the internet in an encrypted (scrambled) form, then decoded when it gets out. For added security, we also encrypt the credit card number when it is stored on disk.

This Web site is secured with an Extended Validation SSL Certificate.

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Certificates are the standard method used on the Internet to secure communications between Web users and Web sites. This technology both authenticates the identity of a Web site and encrypts communications between the user and the Web site.

Extended Validation SSL is a new type of SSL Certificate. A consortium of Internet security experts (Certificate Authority/Browser Forum) created Extended Validation (EV) SSL to combat the growing epidemic of fraudulent Web activity known as phishing. Phishing is a technique used by criminals on the Web to trick Web users into revealing sensitive personal and financial information to a counterfeit Web site. These phishing sites look like a familiar Web site but they are only a fraudulent front for criminal activity. It can be very difficult to differentiate a phishing Web site from the legitimate Web site. This threat has made it more important than ever for Web sites to be authenticated as genuine by a trusted third party before users share information with them.

For over a decade SSL Certificates have served to authenticate Web sites, however not all SSL Certificates provide the same level of authentication. Some highly authenticate a site and some merely verify that the organization requesting the certificate has the right to use their stated Internet domain address. EV SSL Certificates represent the highest standard for authentication. They require that every Web site secured with EV SSL pass a standardized process for rigorously verifying the legitimacy of the organization responsible for that Web site.

We use SSL to secure your online transaction with us because we take your online security very seriously. SSL signifies that our organization has passed the strict identity authentication process. Our SSL Certificate will trigger your browser address bar to display https:// and if you use a browser released in 2007 or later (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 7) your address bar will turn a noticeable green color. To the right of the address bar, a field will display the name of the organization that owns this Web site and this field will toggle to display godaddy, that issued this SSL Certificate. When you see your address bar turn green, simply look to the right to see that the owner of this Web site is the organization you intended to visit.

There are two ways to make sure you are browsing secure pages. Both Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator indicate secure modes with a symbol - the image of a closed padlock. You will know the information is protected if the closed-lock symbol pops into view in the lower right or left-hand corner of your screen while you are checking it out. You can also verify secure pages by checking the address, or URL, listed on the scroll bar. If you spot an "s" after the "http" at the beginning of the address, you know that you're browsing in a secure environment.

While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also protect user information offline. All of our customer information is restricted within our offices. Only employees who need it to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. ALL {{config path="trans_email/ident_custom2/name"}} employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Each quarter, as well as any time new policies are added, our employees are notified and reminded about the importance we place on privacy, as well as what they can do to ensure our customer's information is protected. Your safe shopping is our goal!

At Bump My Lock, we are doing everything in our power to protect your financial security. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, your bank cannot hold you liable for more than $50 of fraudulent charges. In the unlikely event that you are subject to fraudulent billing as a result of shopping at Bump My Lock, we will cover your liability up to $50. This applies ONLY if the unauthorized use of your credit card resulted through no fault of your own while using the Bump My Lock secure server. You must always notify your credit card provider in accordance with their reporting rules and procedures.
